More shelling has been reported in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, as fighting between the country’s warring generals intensifies.
Witnesses reported artillery fire around the state television building in the adjoining city of Omdurman.
The army announced it had brought reinforcements to the capital from other parts of Sudan.
Fighting has continued for nearly seven weeks, between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, in Khartoum and the western region of Darfur, despite efforts to broker a humanitarian ceasefire.
Yesterday the US issued sanctions against four Sudanese companies and several individuals, after the collapse of a US-Saudi brokered truce. END.
