The local residents of Hamukungu fishing parish in Lake-Katwe subcounty in Kasese district have called for urgent interventions by the district leadership into fixing the Kikorongo –Hamukungu road that has turned too costly to the users.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio in Hamukungu over the weekend, Ms Rosemary Kyahirwe, Mr. Adolf, Mr. James Bwambale, Mr. Joshua Musasizi, some of whom double as local residents and traders, said besides the road being a death trap to the referred patients, its costly transporting merchandise along the route.
They note that whereas Hamukungu generates a lot of revenue to the district through mainly fishing and tourism, and hard to reach looking at the wild environment paused by Queen Elizabeth National park, the Muhindi government couldn’t be failing to maintain the only single road network to the area. The tough speaking Mr. Wilson Asiimwe, the Lake Katwe local council three chairperson was disappointed that for two financial years, the district had failed to capture the road he says continues to put the lives of the locals, tourists and traders at risk. Mr. Wilson speaking……
He however called for calm among the locals, saying his office would continue engaging the district leadership until the road is worked on. END
