The joint security forces have shot dead three suspected Karamojong warriors and one gun has been recovered in ambush in Kotido district.
It is reported that the Joint security team received intelligence information on Saturday morning that 12 Jie warriors with one SMG were moving from Kotido to Kaabong via Lolelia South Sub County on a raid mission. The Anti-Stock Theft Unit personnel of Lolelia and Nakatapan detachment went and laid an ambush at the possible crossing points where the warriors got trapped.
Michael Longole, the Mt Moroto regional police spokesperson said that the warriors entered into the ambush and three of them were put out of action while others escaped with serious injuries.
Longole said that they also managed to recover one gun with 09 rounds of ammunition a UPDF water bottle and belt, Karimojong bed sheets and two phone sim cards.
Longole noted although there is still a room for voluntarily handover of guns, some warriors have paid a deaf ear and they are ones causing havoc among the communities. END
