Remy Technical services, the contractor working on Hima-Kihyo road is back on site, Kasese Guide Radio can reliably report.
Hima-Kihyo road had caused public concern, with Mr. Jenan Bamwenda, a prominent lawyer in Kasese threatening to drag Uganda National Roads Authority to court should they fail to level the heaped murrum within two weeks.
In an interview with an Inspector of roads from the Ministry of works and transport, Eng. Mathew Ocaria says their contractor is working on a 10 Kilometer road in the district out of which, six are in Kirembo in Kisinga Sub County and four kilometers being the Hima-Kihyo road.
Eng. Ocaria calls for patience among the locals now that they were to concentrate on the drainage systems along the road first till the end of the rainy season that would make the way more challenging if the marrum is leveled now. Eng. Ocaria speaking……
Responding to complaints by the public about the alleged poor murrum used by the contractor, Eng. Ocaria said, the public needs to differentiate between the high and low cost roads, saying the Hima-Kihyo road is a community low ceiling road that uses low cost manual materials for mainly common low volume transport means of transport like small cars, motorcycles and bicycles.
