Civil society Organizations have urged Government to raise its commitment towards climate change which is the biggest threat affecting the people.
Mr. Eliud Masereka, the Director Mother of Hope foundation Uganda said government must rise up and make practical policy transformations, and help conserve and protect the environment.
Mother of Hope foundation Uganda led a one day environment awareness campaign in Majengo market and Kihara ward in Nyamwamba division this morning to help communities fully understand the role of community conservation by cleaning.
Mr. Eliud said several activities were conducted including cleanup of the market, climate literacy and launch of tree planting among others.
He said in Kasese Municipality waste management and health is still low, calling for collaborated effort among partners in development.

The Chairperson Local Counci one Kihara road cell in Nyamwamba Division, Mr. Sunday Justus asked the community to live in a clean environment and conserve nature by keeping wastes in the right place, through sensitization and the training of community members.

Mr. Samson Masereka, the Project manager said that climate change is exacerbating inequality and hurting poor people in the community.
He said the organization was also promoting environmental conservation, domestic violence and savings among others.
The day was celebrated under the theme “waste management and disposal” END.
