Collaborated efforts are required for food security that would greatly neutralize stunted growth and Malnutrition among babies, the Former Minister of Defense, Hon. Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga has said.

In an interview with Kasese guide radio in Kinyamaseke town council in Kasese district this week, Dr. Kiyonga who quoted a research by Ministry of health that placed Kasese among the district whose malnutrition stands at 50% among children, asked the community to promote cassava, vegetable, soya beans and fish agriculture, as well as the rearing of rabbits and chicken for both subsistence and commercial purposes. Dr. Kiyonga speaking1…….

Dr. Kiyonga, a famous commercial farmer in Western region said several trucks of pigs, chicken, eggs, onions and cattle among others through Kasese district to the neighboring DR Congo were a clear manifestations that the local community here has not stood strategically to tap from items of regional demand.

He later asked the local farmers in the district to emulate their counterparts in Bwesumbu subcounty to promote the growing of onions on a large scale for commercial purposes. Dr. Kiyonga speaking2…..

The NRM Chairperson for Kyalhumba sub county, Mr. Albert Thembo Kajungu who was one of the farmers sponsored by Dr. Kiyonga for a Bwesumbu benchmarking tour of onions, testifies that the crop was another viable alternative income source for gardeners.

    Mr. Kajungu speaking……

The NRM Coordinator for Party activities in Bukonzo West constituency Mr. James Nyawatekwa like Mr. Sezi Police, the Munkunyu subcounty local council three chairperson said they would unite as leaders to sensitize the community more on crops that could easily benefit them. END.
