Collaborated efforts are required for food security that would greatly neutralize stunted growth and Malnutrition among babies, the Former Minister of Defense, Hon. Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga has said.
In an interview with Kasese guide radio in Kinyamaseke town council in Kasese district this week, Dr. Kiyonga who quoted a research by Ministry of health that placed Kasese among the district whose malnutrition stands at 50% among children, asked the community to promote cassava, vegetable, soya beans and fish agriculture, as well as the rearing of rabbits and chicken for both subsistence and commercial purposes. Dr. Kiyonga, a famous commercial farmer in Western region said several trucks of pigs, chicken, eggs, onions and cattle among others through Kasese district to the neighboring DR Congo were a clear manifestations that the local community here has not stood strategically to tap from items of regional demand.
