President Museveni has praised the Ugandan Anglican church for breaking ties with Canterbury, the seat of the Anglican Church worldwide after it blessed same sex marriages.
The president was this afternoon speaking during the celebrations to mark the Janan Luwum day, in Kitgum, northern Uganda.
Last week, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr.Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu said the working relationship with the Church of England had been destroyed irreparably after the latter allowed priests to bless same sex marriages.
The Inter Religious Council of Uganda yesterday preached against the growing agenda for homosexuality in the country.
President Museveni applauded the religious leaders for coming out strong against homosexuality that he said in not African.
Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda said parliament had passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill which the president accented to and became law in 2014, but that some people went to court and nullified it.
Jinja district Khadi Sheik Addi Basoga in a related development said Muslims are set to have peaceful demonstrations against the promotion of homosexuality in schools tomorrow.END.
