Only fifty four percent of the expected population turned up for yellow fever vaccination exercise, Mr. Stephen Bagonza, the Assistant Kasese district Health Officer in charge of Environmental health has said.
In his Report, Mr. Bagonza said that low community willingness and perceptions to vaccination were partly to blame for the challenges related to the low turn in some areas during the vaccination exercise.
Speaking to the various stakeholders during the evaluation meeting yesterday, the Kasese district Secretary for Social services, Hon. Girivazio Monday called for patriotism and voluntarism by the medics whom he asked to continue with the vaccination exercise among institutions of learning if the district was to hit the target.
Hon. Girivazio asked the medics to use the left vaccines for the exercise to continue on call as the country plans for the second phase of the exercise. Hon. Girivazio speaking1……..
He also asked the office of the Chief Administrative Officer to timely collaborate human resource in preparation for the second phase vaccination exercise in future for the district to hit her target.

Kinyamaseke, Mubuku and Ibanda –Kyanya towmn councils are some of the areas that performed beyond ninety percent while Kyabarungira, Kisinga and Maliba sub counties are among those that performed below fifty percent. END.
