The traditional way of cooking using firewood and charcoal may now have to be altered by those embracing upcoming innovative technologies.
One such an innovation is where a Ugandan made solar cookers powered by solar energy has been invented with multipurpose functions.
It cooks food, lights the home, charges phones, and plays inbuilt FM Radios among others.
Now Rwenzori Royal institute in Kasese municipality yesterday launched the installation solar cookers with a call on the community to impress the use of solar cookers to mitigate environmental challenges.
The Chairperson Scholarship Board, Rev Fr. Sausi Businge Richard while addressing the media shortly after handing over solar cookers to the management of the institute said the innovation is an initiative that develops environmental friendly.

Ms Rebecca Biira an instructor for catering at Rwenzori Royal institute told Kasese guide radio in a separate interview that the community will be sensitized about proper usage of solar cookers and re-usable energy.
