The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has asked the newly appointed Government Chief Whip Dennis Hamson Obua to respect and work very well with the Opposition in the House.
Tayebwa was handing over the Office of the Government Chief Whip to Obua, the Ajuri County MP who was recently appointed into the office during a mini reshuffle announced by President Yoweri Museveni.
The office of the Chief Whip fell vacant after Tayebwa’s elevation to the office of Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
Tayebwa advised his successor to make concessions with the different sides in parliament, in order to push forward the government’s business.
He added that it is important when the two sides in parliament coordinate and avoid having a tussle on the floor which sometimes ends up being ugly.Hon Tayebwa on unity….
Tayebwa also advised Obua to allow different sector Ministers to take a lead and respond to matters raised by parliament.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja tasked Obua to ensure that the 61 Bills that the Executive plans to present to parliament for enactment this financial year are processed successfully. End
