Kasese Municipal council leadership has written to the proprietor Kamwe-kamwe restaurant and Bar in Kasese town against construction of a perimeter wall that has enclosed as a parking space a road reserve near his bar.
The Kasese Municipal town clerk, Mr. Isaiah Tumwesigye called for no alarm but that the Municipal Physical planning committee would sit to consider the developer`s application seeking to be allowed to have the road reserve turned into his customers` parking space.
Mr. Isiah said the letter to stop the construction is aimed at giving his office time to make thorough analysis of the said application before a decision is made. Mr. Isaiah speaks1…
Mr. Isaiah clarified that the said pierce of land stretching from Triple P bar and lodges, via Kamwe-Kamwe restaurant and lodges to Kasese and Bwambale Henry roads, is a Kasese Municipal property intended for public parking and beautification and using it for personal gains without clearance is illegal. Mr. Isaiah speaking2…………
The Kasese Municipal Physical planner, Mr. Wilfred Baluku Kamusede had earlier said that the main kitchen as Kamwe-kamwe was also on public land, wondering why the developer could begin using the road reserve space for personal interests before his application was responded to by the Kasese Municipal leadership. Mr. Wilfred speaks..
Our efforts to get a comment from Proprietor Kamwe-kamwe restaurant and bar ended in futile as his known phone number was not available by press time.
Mr. Kamwe-Kamwe is not new to controversies related to construction, including what many perceived to be a fifty water reserve tank that claimed the life of a youth, and opening the same road reserve he had enclosed at the orders of the former Kasese Municipal Mayor and now State Minister for National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Kabyanga.
Kasese Municipality leadership may have to apply a whip against a new wave of individuals targeting public land after people recently reportedly grabbed Rwenzururu Kingdom land, as well as one Mr. Darius who decided to plant bananas in another open green space near Kasese Hospital on Kyebambe road.
