The local population, most of them from Saluti B in Nyamwamba, Kasese Municipality in Kasese district pleaded with UWA leadership in vain over plans to feast on a roaming hippopotamus that was killed in the area by un known people.
Mr. Charles Mugume like many other many pleading local residents wondered why Uganda Wildlife Leadership could not allow them feast on a wild beast that has as well attacked a local resident in the wee hours today.
Many local residents interviewed by this radio called UWA officers names refusing for the meat they claim was fresh and edible.

The local council one chairperson for Saluti B cell could not however tell much about how the suspected locals killed the Hippo but was not happy with a UWA official who allegedly blamed her for failing to alert them in time about the incident. Ms Jannet speaking…….
Ms Alice Natukunda, Community Conservation Warden for Mount Rwenzori national park said they could not allow the community to feast on the wild animals whose health condition they did not have details about.
Ms Alice also hailed the local leaders for having informed them about the animal whose meat was a target of the local community.
