Government should increase teachers’ salaries to enable them cope with the rising cost of living, the Education Secretary South Rwenzori Diocese, Rev Alice Nabirye has said.
She said the current salary scale did not match the teacher’s demands.
Speaking to Kasese guide radio last evening at Kamaiba youth center, Rev.Nabirye however asked science teachers to resume classes as government looks into the possibility of salary increament.

The Head teacher Kasese secondary school in Kasese town, Mr. Augustine Muserero said most science teachers has also joined the strike but urgently called them back to classes saying through UNATU, government will respond to teachers concerns.

At St. Francis High school in Rugendabara –Kikongo town council, Mr. Francis Kwehayo, Director said with the current increase of prices on food commodities, school fees has automatically increased this term.
