The Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Zepher Mubingwa has called for collaborated efforts between the district leadership and the local community members to have Nyakakindo Mini-irrigation scheme in Hima town council complete.
Addressing different stakeholders, including farmers, technical and political staff in Nyaizinga cell, Karungibati Ward, Hima town council in Kasese district today, Mr. Mubingwa asked the gathering to iron out any challenges that would frustrate the project he said would not only secure food for the community but also improve their household incomes. The district chairman, Mr. Erifazi Muhindi who asked stakeholders to work hard to save the project, pledged to consult further for a possibility of extending the time designated for the project now that the contractor had had challenges over farmers who continued planting crops at a time they had been stopped to allow construction works. Hima town council local council three chairperson, Ms. Hilda Maate asked farmers to adhere to technical guidance anytime government intends to establish a project to minimize frictions.
Eng. Deus Niwagaba, the project engineer agreed to give farmers ten more days of continued water supply and harvesting crops after which, construction works will be rolled to the remaining side of the project. Eng. Niwagaba speaking….
