A total of 1,372 students have graduated from Law development centre (LDC) during its 51st graduation ceremony held for the three campuses of Mbarara, Kampala and Lira.
While speaking to Graguands, Court of Appeal’s Lady Justice, Irene Mulyagonja who is also the chairperson of the law council reminded them of the challenges ahead including the limited employment opportunities in the legal profession.
Among the notable graduates was Rose Namayanja, the NRM deputy secretary general.
She said that with the ethical and professional uprightness LDC gives, it is high time government considered putting a bar course in all disciplines for competence.
The Leader of Opposition in parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, who received a post graduate diploma in legal practice called for restoration of the rule of law and respect for human rights which has dwindled.
Ssenyonyi added that his knowledge is a value addition which will better position him and aid him in putting government in check as he puts to account perpetrators of brutal arrests and corruption. END.
