By Barbra Muhindo,
There is a reason to smile by the local residents of Kasese Municipality following a break through into the barriers hindering the extension of the electric wire fence intended to block destructive roaming wildlife from leaving Queen Elizabeth National Park into the local population.
In an interview with Kasese Guide Radio at his office this morning, Mr. Asanairi Bukanywa, the Kasese Municipal Agricultural Extension Officer said an agreement had been finalized between some locals who had blocked the construction works, and Uganda wildlife Authority, giving a green light for the project to continue along the Kidodo- Kanyangeya and Scheme stretch, connecting to Kibale national park.
He also revealed that plans were being finalized to compensate victims of wildlife attacks on life and property now that all paper work required had been handed in to UWA. Mr. Bukanywa speaking1…….
Mr. Bukanywa who warned the locals against poor farming methods, used the same interview to remind farmers to prepare their gardens in time for the March-May rainy season. END
