Security forces in greater Luwero region have assured people in the area sufficient security as the country heads into the forthcoming 2026 elections, calling on citizens and political actors to maintain peace and unity.
Speaking during Tarehe Sita community activities in Greater Luwero, Maj. Gen. Charles Byanyima, the UPDF Commander Motorized Infantry Division, urged the public to reject violence and any actions that could destabilize the country.
He warned that individuals or groups attempting to undermine national stability would face firm action, stressing that the army remains committed to defending the gains of the revolution. Byanyima further noted that Tarehe Sita commemorates the start of the liberation struggle in 1981 and symbolizes the strong bond between the UPDF and the people, a relationship he said continues to foster unity, peace, and development.
