The Ministry of Education has announced a new date for the reopening of all schools and education institutions across Uganda, shifting the start of the academic term from February 2nd to Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
In an official announcement dated January 16th, 2026, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Kedrace R. Turyagyenda, the Ministry said the decision was taken due to the General Elections and the need to ensure the safety of learners across the country. The revised directive applies to all categories of education institutions, including international schools, tertiary institutions, and universities. END
