Combined Pressure Groups Uganda, an umbrella Organisation of groups mobilizing support for the NRM, has demanded a meeting with party chairman Yoweri Museveni, saying their concerns have been ignored despite their role in mobilizing votes for the party.
During a press conference in Kampala yesterday, the groups claim they have played a significant role in rallying support for the NRM across different parts of the country but are increasingly being sidelined and, in some cases, chased away from official party mobilization programs, said Ms Monica Adegi, the leader of Combined Pressure Groups Uganda.
Members of the groups say they are not formally recognised within the party structure, despite operating at grassroots level and facing hostility from political opponents during mobilization activities. END
