His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has extended his condolences to the Christians of Jinja diocese over losing their shepherd, Bishop Charles Martin Wamika.

His message was delivered by the secretary to the papal nuncio, Fr. George Kwami, during the mass to celebrate Bishop Wamika’s life on Monday.
While delivering this message, Kwami noted that the papal message had been signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican secretary of state, on behalf of the pope.
The Pope’s message, read by Kwami, firstly expressed sadness over the loss of Bishop Wamika’s life at a time such as this.
The pope further hails Bishop Wamika for his commendable legacy in steering progress across the board in the diocese of Jinja, from health, education, to social transformation, and overall ministry. Meanwhile, the president of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, also hailed Bishop Wamika for being a peace-loving cleric who steered harmonious living across the diocese. May his soul rest in Eternal Peace. END
