The Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, SP Vincent Twesige, has asked political candidates and their supporters to adhere to the campaign guidelines issued by the Electoral Commission and the police, to ensure peaceful and orderly campaigns.
While speaking to Kasese Guide Radio yesterday, SP Twesige reminded candidates to observe the agreed campaign schedule, adding that campaigning in markets, busy business centers, and around schools, is strictly prohibited now that schools area open for serious business.
On regional security, SP Twesige noted that the situation in the Rwenzori region remains calm following the November 1 attacks, but called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities. The attackers targeted Kasese Central Police Station, Rughendare Police Post in Kasese District, Malindi and Kakuka military detachments in Bundibugyo District, as well as attempting to raid Canon Apollo School in Fort Portal City.
