A section of opposition members in Kasese District has asked the government to apologize to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) encamped in Muhokya Town Council over allegations that 1.2 billion shillings meant for the purchase of land for their permanent resettlement was lost to fraudsters.
Mr. Kato Zunguka, the former LC3 NUP contestant for Central Division seat in Kasese Municipality and Kasese District FDC Chair, Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku questioned how taxpayers’ money could allegedly be swindled by conmen despite what they described as a clear procurement process. Calling for expedited investigations into the matter.

Yesterday, Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eriphaz Muhindi, confirmed to our reporter that the government was allegedly conned out of 1.2 billion shillings intended to procure land for the resettlement of IDP, s in Muhokya Town Council.
When contacted for a comment, the District Physical Planner, Mr. Hilary Abdul, and the Secretary to the Land Board, Mr. Musabe Erisania Masereka, referred our reporter to the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Edward Kasagara. Mr. Kasagara in turn directed the reporter to the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Eliab Ntarwete, who stated that he was not involved in the procurement process. Mr. Eliab speaking….
