Mr. Peter Mpaka, the former NUP’s parliamentary candidate for Mbarara City North, has officially crossed to NRM after announcing his withdrawal from both the race and the party on November 17, 2025.
Mr. Mpaka’s defection was yesterday confirmed during a brief ceremony at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara City presided over by Rtd. Col. Sam Karogo Muraari, the Ankole Reserve Force Commander, and Dr James Tweheyo, a commissioner with the NRM Electoral Commission. Mr. Mpaka crossed over with three councilors and several NUP coordinators and supervisors from Mbarara City, all of whom declared their allegiance to the ruling party. END
