The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has won most sub-counties and town councils in the Local Council Three elections in Kasese District, painting the district yellow.
The Kasese District Registrar, Mr. Godfrey Mbabazi, declared at the Kasese Multipurpose Tally Centre this afternoon that out of the 44 lower local governments in the district, the opposition managed to win only eight.

The areas won by the opposition include, Kithoma-Kanyatsi and Rugendabara-Kikongo Town Councils, as well as Kitabu, Karusandara, Muhokya, Buhuhira, Bwesumbu, and Maliba Sub-Counties.
Before declaring the LCIII winner for Muhokya Sub-County, Mr. Mbabazi ordered a recount of votes from Nyamirami COU A-L Polling Station after the NUP flag bearer, Asanairi Mugusu raised an alarm, alleging that the NRM candidate’s votes had been altered from 173 to 473. Mr. Mbabazi speaking…
In Bukonzo County West, NRM, s Tsutsu Moses of Isango and Sunday Peter Kakule of Nyakiyumbu retained their seats. Emmanuel Masereka of Bwera Sub-County and James Nyawathekwa of Ihandiro Sub-County made a comeback. Meanwhile, Jeromos Muhindo of Karambi Sub-County made history as the first NRM chairperson in the area, alongside Mutahunga Rogers, who won the LCIII seat for Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council.

Hon. Mbaju Jackson Kathika, the NUP Regional Coordinator, said that the opposition winning only eight seats does not imply weakness, but rather reflects friction between the opposition and government organs. Hon. Kathika speaking.
Meanwhile, NUP flag bearer Mr. Samwel Kamara was declared the winner for Karusandara Sub-County, an area traditionally known as an NRM stronghold. Sarapio Kule was also declared chairperson for Kitholhu Sub-County.
