The National Drug Authority and Rwenzururu Kingdom have joined hands to clamp down on illegal traders of medicines in the Rwenzori region.
Dr. Jeani Muhindo Bukeka, the Director Veterinary Services National Drug Authority, says while the authority has previously been using surveillance, arrests, and raids on pharmacies and Drug shops to curb illegal drug use, they have now resolved to engage communities and use their leaders through Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu to teach them the dangers associated to poor drug handling and self-medication.
Dr. Jeani, made the remarks today while facilitating at a half day meeting of Obusinga Bwa-Rwenzururu Cabinet Ministers Sensitizatizing them on Drug regulation and seeking Partnership with OBR, held at Shiloh Gardens in Kasese town.
She said so many people in Rural and urban resort to illegal drug sales for both humans and animals, as a result she says there is a lot of Drug Misuse which risks people complications in future such as organ failure and chronic Body resistance among others. Dr. Jeani speaking…..
