President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged Ugandan scientists to take a leading role in transforming the country into a science-driven economy.
He made the remarks yesterday during a meeting with scientists and members of the innovation ecosystem at State House Entebbe.
The team, led by Dr. Monica Musenero, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, briefed him on recent progress in advancing the National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s vision for a modern, science-led economy.
The scientists outlined key milestones, including the development of electric vehicles, the production of diagnostic kits, standardization of natural medicines, and innovations in machine-building technologies.
President Museveni praised their work, noting that scientists had “finally woken up” to their role in driving national transformation. Dr. Musenero thanked the President for his unwavering support to science, technology, and innovation. END
