State Minister for Works, Hon. Francis Musa Ecweru has formally withdrawn from the Amuria County parliamentary contest, ending weeks of political tension and speculation in the district.
The minister, who had opted to contest as an independent candidate following his loss in the NRM primary to Samuel Ediau, made the decision public this afternoon, citing “deep reflection and consultation with party and community leaders.” According to his chief campaign agent, Mr. Nathan Okiror, a formal withdrawal letter is being prepared for submission to the Amuria Electoral Commission, officially confirming Ecweru’s exit from the 2026 parliamentary race, wending his 20 years in parliament. .
