By Kyamanduma Patrick,
His Worship Chance Kahindo, the Kasese Municipal Mayor, has argued the local residents to jointly work with the municipal leadership to maintain the town cleanliness he said aligns with the Municipal vision.
He also asked the local residents to be mindful of the way they dispose garbage, as means to have a clean and green town aimed promoting good health and tourism.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio over the weekend, Mr. Chance was also concerned about some people he said are reportedly cutting the immature bamboo trees along the Nyamwamba valley, a move that could frustrate efforts to check seasonal floods in Kasese Municipality.
In a press statement during a stakeholders’ meeting held in the Municipal Boardroom earlier last month, the Senior Town Clerk for Nyamwamba Division, Mr. Adidas Bithibanji, had described the acts of cutting bamboo trees, encroaching on Nyamwamba river by some farmers and unguided sand and stone mining, as direct attacks on the mother earth against lives and property. Mr. Bithibanji speaking……..
He alsoasked local leaders to be vigilant against those he called selfish actors tempering with the environment. END
