The M23 rebels have claimed the capture of Kamanyola in Walungu Territory, South Kivu Province, and Kitsombiro in Lubero Territory in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
The towns fell into the hands of the rebels last evening following intense fighting with the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo and their allies.
As by this morning, DR Congo authorities had not yet commented on these claims from the M23 rebels.
On the same day, the M23 rebels held their first rally in Bukavu City, urging locals to remain calm and continue with their daily activities. END
