The Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, has attributed the rising cases of domestic violence and divorce to the inappropriate use of mobile phones, alcoholism, social media, and negative peer influence that prioritizes personal pleasure over God.
Bishop Kibira described the use of mobile phones among married couples as a “ticking time bomb,” noting that excessive attention to social media deprives families of quality time for dialogue, problem-solving, and praying together.

While presiding over Holy Mass at St. Theresa Girls’ School–Nsenyi, yesterday which marked the closure of a one-week retreat for married couples under the CANA Movement in the Diocese of Kasese and during which he witnessed the wedding of four couples the Bishop urged spouses to seek God’s guidance through prayer and family sharing.

The prelate also announced 23rd December 2025 as the date for a mass wedding at Kyalhumba Parish. He called upon parents and guardians to groom their children into responsible citizens and warned couples against producing children beyond their financial and social capacity.
