By Peter Masereka,
The Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, has cautioned the youth against focusing on family inheritance, urging them instead to strive through education to earn their own possessions in the future.

In his speech shortly after presiding over Holy Mass at St. Jude Primary School in Katwe Catholic Parish on Sunday, Bishop Kibira expressed concern that some young people today are obsessed on inheriting family property, despite their parents’ significant investment in their education.

Bishop Kibira also warned the youth against drug abuse and alcoholism, noting that such habits not only destroy their future but also damage internal organs and cause mental illness. He further encouraged them to engage in animal husbandry and other income-generating activities.

In his remarks, Mr. Henry Kabiriri, the Kasese District Assistant RDC in charge of Busongora County, commended the Bishop for his developmental work in the Diocese and requested that he consider establishing a modern health facility, a secondary school, and a microfinance center in Katwe-Kabatooro Town Council. The NRM flag bearer for Busongora County South, Mr. David Mulindwa, also urged residents at the landing site to invest more of their income in their children’s education and in promoting tourism.
