By Enos Masereka,
A section of vendors operating in the Kasese Main Market are calling for the urgent intervention of the Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, following the issuance of forged local revenue receipts by some employees of Kasese Municipal Authority.
Representing over 100 affected vendors, Ms. Ronato Joseph and Ms. Pesi Masika presented the forged receipts to our reporter this afternoon at Kasese Guide Radio Gardens.

According to the vendors, the receipts were issued by a contractor who had been introduced to them in 2023 by the Municipal Authority to collect lock-up rent.
They allege that the contractor repeatedly claimed that the PRN- (Payment Registration Number) system was experiencing technical issues.
However, the matter escalated when the Municipal Authority later summoned the vendors over accumulated rent arrears last month.
Despite multiple attempts to seek redress, the vendors say they have been turned away from the Municipal offices.
Frustrated and feeling ignored, they have threatened to hold a peaceful demonstration if the RDC does not intervene. Ms. Ronato and Pesi….
Ms. Ronato and Ms. Pesi expressed their concerns, urging authorities to take swift action against those involved.
In response, Mr. Alex Bulemu, the Municipal Treasurer, denied any involvement in the alleged fraud. He, however, encouraged the vendors to provide any information that could assist in identifying and arresting the impersonating contractor. END.
