The government Uganda has secured 8.5 billion shillings as retirement benefits for 212 former Rwenzururu Kingdom veterans and civil servants who served from the UPC led government in Kasese district.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the Kasese District headquarters yesterday, the State minister for public service, Hon. Mary Grace Mugasa Akiiki Mukasa, was responding to concerns by Mr. Yenesani Kamabu 90, Mr. Tanus Masereka 81, Mzee Joachim Sikomoyo, who are among other former service men and servants who ask the President to fulfill the pledges to clear them and build a new Rwenzururu Kingdom palace. According to the Minister, Cabinet cleared the payments on 23rd October, 2025, months after the beginning of this financial year, making it a priority in the 2026/7 finance year.
Hon. Mugasa who sympathized with the families of the deceased civil servants whose relatives will however receive the benefits, later announced that the Presidential pledges for the Rwenzururu Kingdom have also been captured under the same 2026/7 financial year.
