Residents of Kagote Ward in Fort Portal City Central Division have expressed concern over the deteriorating state of the Kagote–Saaka road.

They say the condition has worsened following the outbreak of rain in the area.
The 8-kilometer road leads to Mountains of the Moon University, the Mountain Division headquarters at Muhooti, Saaka Airstrip, and the Katojo government Prison.
Samuel Godfrey Sanyu, the Kagote–Mpanga B ward Chairperson, says the city leadership has neglected the community, despite the road being under the Ministry of Works.
He said that the farmers are suffering as transporting their agricultural produce to markets has become extremely difficult.

Sanyu Baguma, a boda boda rider in Kagote like others, said that when it rains, the road becomes impassable due to deep potholes and slippery surfaces. Mr. Baguma and others speaking…
Annet Asasira noted that transport costs have sharply increased as a result of the road’s condition. “In the rainy season, boda boda riders charge 3,000 shillings for a journey that costs 1,000 when it’s dry,” she said. END
