Rev. Fr. Brian Masereka, the Curate for St. Michael Divine Mercy Shrine in Kabuyiri in the Diocese of Kasese, partly blames poor academic performance to parents and guardians who force their children into schools whose financial demands are unaffordable to them.
He said it’s not right for a parent to enroll his child in an expensive school he cannot afford, a situation that keeps families and learners on uncalled for pressures that result into poor academic performance.
Presiding over first Mass at the Shrine yesterday, Rev. Fr. Brian later attributed the excellent academic performance in last year’s UCE exams by St. Micheal Vocation secondary school-Nyakahya, to the fear of God, discipline and hard work by learners, most of whom are well mentored under the Catholic Church doctrine. Mr. Happy Mwirima, the school PTA chairperson, said all is being done to secure a UNEB centre number to enable learners sit for their national examinations at the institution. Mr. Happy Mwirima speaking………
Earlier, Mr. Benedict Mudaki, attributed the commendable academic performance at the school to the will of God, teacher/learner sharing sessions and discipline. END
