By Mumbere Moses,
The Kasese District Returning Officer, Mr. Godfrey Mbabazi, has clarified that voters who do not possess National Identification Cards or voter location slips will still be allowed to vote, provided their names appear in the voters’ register.
Speaking to our reporter this morning at his office in Kasese town, Mbabazi, however, encouraged voters to pick their voter location slips from their respective polling stations.
He said this would help minimize complaints related to the absence of National IDs and voter location slips, and avoid friction with polling officials and security personnel during the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, scheduled for January 15, 2026.
According to Mbabazi, voter location slips ease the work of polling officials and agents since they contain all the necessary particulars of the voter, making verification faster and more efficient. Mr. Mbabazi speak..
He further urged eligible voters to turn up in large numbers on polling day, and called upon candidates to remain calm and avoid electoral malpractices, reaffirming his commitment to a smooth, peaceful, and transparent electoral process. END
