The Minister for Information and Communications Technology, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, yesterday dismissed claims that detained opposition figure Dr. Kiiza Besigye was critically ill or denied access to medical care while in custody.
Speaking to journalists, Hon. Dr. Baryomunsi said Besigye had suffered from a minor diarrhea illness, which was promptly treated by medical personnel at Luzira Prison. The minister confirmed that Besigye continues to receive medical attention and has access to family members listed as his next of kin, exclusive of Dr. Besigye’s wife, Eng. Winnie Byanyima, describing the decision as an internal family matter. END
