State House and the Criminal Investigations Directorate have opened investigations into senior officials at Uganda Airlines following a wave of media reports highlighting deepening operational and governance challenges at the national carrier.
The probe comes against the backdrop of mounting criticism of the airline’s management, with the Managing Director, Ms Jenifer Bamuturaki cited in several reports detailing alleged management flaws.
Matters worsened in recent weeks after Uganda Airlines’ operations were severely affected by fleet limitations, with several aircraft grounded due to a lack of spare parts, leading to flight cancellations and delays.
In a formal letter dated January 7, 2026, the CID confirmed it was investigating alleged abuse of office, embezzlement of funds and false accounting involving Uganda Airlines officials. END
