The City Hall Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 43-year-old doctor, Martin Adupet, to Luzira Prison on charges of murder.
Dr. Adupet, a resident of Wantoni Village in Mukono Municipality, Mukono District, was today arraigned before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu, who is in charge of the City Hall Court.
He was charged with murder contrary to Sections 171 and 172 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128.
Court heard that Dr. Adupet, who is also a gynecologist, allegedly on January, 2026, at Kikaaya Zone in Kawempe Division, Kampala District, with malice aforethought unlawfully killed Cissy Kebirungi.
The accused was not allowed to respond to the charge because it is capital in nature and the Magistrate’s Court lacks jurisdiction to try the offence. If convicted by the High Court, Dr. Adupet faces the maximum penalty for murder under the law, which is death or life imprisonment. END
