As Uganda’s Senior One selection and placement process gets underway, educationists are calling on the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) to prioritise and conclude investigations into suspected cases of examination malpractice before finalizing placements.
The plea comes amid concerns that delayed resolutions could unfairly disadvantage cleared learners whose results remain withheld pending hearings, effectively barring them from competing for spots in government-aided secondary schools during the ongoing national exercise.

He described the practice as sweeping legitimate issues “under the carpet,” risking harm to innocent learners even after they are cleared.
He said by the time they clear the queries, the national placement window has usually closed, leaving them sidelined despite strong academic merit.
