Forum for Democratic Change party has registered an increase in the number of councilors for Kasese Municipality from nine in the outgoing council to thirteen elected yesterday, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.
During the Kasese Municipal Mayoral election results announced at the Kasese Multipurpose hall last night, the Kasese District Registrar, Mr. Godfrey Mbabazi indicated that out of thirty-seven elected Municipal councilors, NRM got twenty-one, 13 from FDC and three were independent candidates.
In a separate interview with Kasese Guide Radio this morning, Hon. Ukash Swaibu Musenene, the incumbent Kasese Municipal Speaker, called for calm among political players, adding that the elected political leaders are a representation of the will of the local community members whose decision has to be respected. Earlier, NRM’s Hon. Leonard Kasereka, the councilor elect for Kisanga Ward and his counterpart, Hon. Vicent Byamukama for Scheme Ward, said the Mawa market and poor road challenges, were top on their agenda while on the floor of council. Hon. Rabson Mupango, the Deputy Mayor and Hon. John Siriwayo, the councilor for Railway ward, were some of the reelected councilors from the FDC Party. END
