Plans have been finalized to impound cotton trucks that operate in a manner that violates safety or transport regulations in Kasese district.
Speaking to Kasese Radio in Kasese town this morning, Mr. Asanairi Bukanywa, the Kasese Municipal Agricultural officer, said trucks transporting cotton lint without proper covering are liable to be impounded by security forces and transport authorities for violating safety standards.
Mr. Bukanywa said whereas consultations were ongoing between the Municipal leadership and the ginners about transportation safety guidelines, he was concerned that some transporters were frustrating efforts for a clean and green town that Kasese Municipality has labored much to maintain. The ministry of Works and transport has previously directed that trucks carrying materials must be properly covered to prevent littering, environmental hazards, and to ensure road safety. END
