Ms Grace Biira, the chairperson of the disgruntled land claimants in Kasese district has responded bitterly over utterances by Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner that she headed at his offices, a camp of land grabbers.
In an interview with Kasese Guide Radio yesterday, Ms Grace said the comments by the Kasese RDC were misleading and inciting because a survey had revealed the truth in the petitions by some land claimants she leads. Ms Grace speaking……..
Ms Grace was responding to utterances by Lt. Walunsimbi during a security meeting in Basecamp about two weeks ago, where the president’s representative expressed concern that the secondary teacher was not keen enough to scrutinize her camp occupants but left administrative gaps that allowed land grabbers, most of whom targeted titled pieces of land and other pieces, including that in Rwentutu, that have court judgments and legal opinions of the Attorney General.
He was also concerned that whereas gazatted pieces of land truly required boundary opening, some land claimants infiltrated the camp at his offices to target Kibale and Queen Elizabeth national parks, a move that security tactfully dealt with. Lt. Walunsimbi speaking………
On 23rd May 2025, groups claiming pieces of land in Nkoko, Kyabatukura, Queen Elizabeth National park and Rwentutu among other areas, camped at the RDC’s offices before their camp was dissolved on September 10th 2025. END
