Robert Bwire Ngwabe, the independent candidate Samia Bugwe South constituency, has withdrawn his candidature over reported health concerns.
Bwire told the press in a phone interview that he is experiencing persistent vomiting and diarrhea that has lasted for more than a month and is struggling to get medication from different health facilities, but there’s no effective change.
Bwire said that he will continue supporting different groups under their association called Obulala, which he earlier initiated in the Samia Bugwe South Constituency. Joan Aduru, the Busia district returning officer, said that she received a withdrawal letter on Thursday, and the hearing was supposed to be yesterday, Aduru said that they are still waiting for the candidate to come back from treatment before they can make a rightful decision.
