Mr. Saulo Maate, the chairperson for People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party in Kasese district has asked tax collectors to be more accountable and responsible by an environment that will ease the operations of tax payers.
He also called for convenience, transparence and fairness in taxesthatrequire individuals to contribute in line with their ability to pay.
Mr. Saulo who warned, town agents, parish and subcounty chiefs against looking at collecting but guiding tax payers about plans to sustain their businesses, was concerned that tax collectors were only targeting taxes from developers who do not have toilets, fast aid boxes, child care centers, power and water at their business premises on many markets and trading centers. He later asked the business community to learn to ask for their rights than working in an environment that will injure their living conditions. END
