By Peter Masereka & Kaguta Joel,
Pilgrims from the Diocese of Kasese, destined for the Kiwamirembe Catholic Shrine, arrived safely yesterday ahead of the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Provincial Association (MEPA) celebrations in Namugongo Martys shrines.

The annual event, celebrated every year on November 9, will this year be animated by the Diocese of Kasese. The main celebrant at the Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrinewill be the Bishop of Kasese Diocese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale.
MEPA serves as a collaborative association for the five Catholic dioceses within the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province in Uganda. These dioceses include the Archdiocese of Mbarara, Kabale, Kasese, Hoima, and Fort Portal.
The association coordinates various aspects of church life, including pastoral, spiritual, administrative, and developmental activities. A notable event organized by MEPA is the annual pilgrimage to the Uganda Martyrs’ Catholic Shrine in Namugongo.
The goal of MEPA is to foster unity, implement shared programs, and advance the Church’s mission within the province.
The team of Christians from the Diocese is led by Rev. Fr. Ednus Mumbere. Our reporters Joel Kaguta and Peter Masereka are at Namugongo Marty’s shrines to give us updates today ahead of tomorrow’s celebrations. END
