A three-day training for community reporters in Kasese district has ended with a call on participants to be practically ethical if they were to fulfill their roles with minimum challenges.
Ms Betty Mujungu, a trainer and a mentor said, the community reporters training is one of the series of media development interventions that DW Academie-Uganda is giving to partner radio stations to enhance community media participation especially in the areas of transparency and public accountability.
Speaking to our reporter shortly after the three days training held at the Bishop’s hall in Kasese Municipality on Saturday last week, Ms Nerveless Kabugho, a community reporter from Bulembia division in Kasese Municipality like Mr. Deo Balyebuga, her counterpart from Katwe-Kabatooro town council in Kasese district, commended Kasese Guide and DW Academie for the training they say ably guided them on their roles. Closing the training, Mr. Raymond Mathias Thembo, Kasese Guide Radio’s Chief News Editor who represented the station manager, Mr. Rogers Bwambale Muzigiti, called for thorough preparation ahead of their new reports he said should be fair and balanced as means to promote professionalism.
