The Police have said the Saturday night bomb blast in Uganda’s capital Kampala has been confirmed as ‘an intentional act of domestic terror’.
One person, who has since been identified as a waitress, succumbed to injuries sustained in the 9pm explosion at an eating joint in Kwata zone, Komamboga ward in Kawempe Division.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga told a press conference yesterday that the number of those injured was three, down from the seven reported earlier.
He said their joint task teams of experts from Counter Terrorism, Intelligence and Investigations have confirmed the incident was an intentional act of domestic terror.
Three suspects are on the run, added Enanga, as investigations continue, with their motivation not yet established.
He said no group had so far come out to claim responsibility for the deadly attack but international news outlets attributed the incident to Islamic State.
He said that facts gathered clearly indicate that three men disguised as customers arrived at the eating point, which belongs to Lule Samuel at around 8:30pm and amongst these three, one of them was carrying a polythene bag containing unknown items, that was placed under a table. END
