Dr. Yusuf Kibaya, the Kasese District Veterinary Officer, attributes a number of diseases in humans to the consumption of meat from animals killed by unidentified zoonotic diseases.

He was concerned that some members of the community were not concerned about the quality but attracted to the low priced and the contaminated meat they consume.
In an interview with Kasese Guide Radio at his office yesterday, Dr. Kibaya said the cases of brucellosis, rift valley fever and Anthrax among other diseases, were as a result of unexamined and contaminated meat from within and outside Kasese district that the locals should denounce for their safety. Listing Kibara in Nyakiyumbu subcounty, Kyalhumba and in isolated areas in Bwera subcounty, as hot spots for unexamined meat, Dr. Kibaya threatened to lead an operation against contaminated and poor stored meat in the district soon. END
