Several water taps in Kitabu Sub-county, Kasese District, have dried up, leaving residents facing a severe water crisis, Kasese Guide Radio can reliably report.
Ms. Mary Biira and Mr. Joseph Mbusa, both residents of Nyakakindo Village, explained that the problem has persisted for more than a year.
The two told our reporter that filling a 20-liter jerrycan now takes more than an hour, forcing locals to fetch water from distant and often contaminated sources. Ms. Biira speaking….
According to Ms. Biira, the community suspects that the drying up of water sources may be due to poor human practices such as clearing vegetation around water sources, as well as the effects of climate change.
